Gwinnett Medical Center offers a full continuum of healthcare services for your family. Our hospital system locations throughout Gwinnett County includes a distinguished medical staff of over 700 physicians.
Offering more than standard healthcare services, we seek to meet extended needs of the community through support groups, community education and wellness initiatives.

Women’s Health
Gwinnett Women’s Pavilion, on the Gwinnett Medical Center campus, provides maternity, education and diagnostic services to women of all ages, as well as newborn intensive care.

Cardiac Services
More than twenty years ago, Gwinnett Medical Center was completed. At that time the population of Gwinnett County was approximately 180,000. Our county now is the home to over 750,000 people. As the population of our county increases, we at Gwinnett Medical Center see an increase in the number of patients with cardiac and vascular diseases.
Over the years, we at Gwinnett Hospital System have worked diligently to improve and expand the cardiac and vascular care we provide to our growing community. Residents of Gwinnett and surrounding counties with heart or vascular disease can benefit by our accredited Chest Pain Center, Cardiac Wellness Center, Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Cardiology Department. In the late nineties, the Cardiology Department became an Accredited Vascular Laboratory in the area of Arterial and Peripheral Venous Testing.
In January of 2005, Gwinnett Medical Center became the second hospital in Georgia to receive accreditation as a Chest Pain Center from the Society for Chest Pain Centers.
Gwinnett Hospital System was recognized by Blue Cross/Blue Shield in March of 2005 as a best-practicing hospital in the care of Heart Failure patients.
Gwinnet Medical’s Cardiac Wellness Program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary rehabilitation.
Stroke is the third leading cause of death in our country. The treatment of carotid artery disease is aimed at the prevention of primary or secondary strokes. In March of 2006, the Cardiac Catheterization Lab performed its first carotid angioplasty. This procedure was approved by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services for a specific patient population in an effort to further reduce the risk of stroke.
Gwinnett Hospital System received the prestigious Health Grades designation in 2006, ranking us in the top 5% of hospitals in the country.

Center for Neuroscience
Welcome to the Center for Neuroscience at Gwinnett Medical Center.
Our Center is dedicated to providing specialized care for neurological and neurosurgical patients in a multi-level care unit. We are highly trained and motivated to provide you with the best medical care possible
Type of Patients
The Center for Neuroscience provides specific levels of care for patients who have had neck surgery, back surgery, stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral aneurysm, brain tumor, spinal cord injury, seizures, neuromuscular disease and/or other neurological problems.
Treatment Team
While you or your loved one is a patient here, care will be provided by a team of skilled, healthcare professionals which may include a neurosurgeon, neurologist, nurse and nurse technician, occupational, physical, or respiratory therapist, speech-language pathologist, pharmacist, dietitian, clinical case manager, social worker, chaplain and patient representative.
Visitation Policy
Our policy is open but with some restrictions due to limited space and the tolerance capacity of our patients to environmental stimulation. Open visitation is permitted from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with the following restrictions:
- Limit 2 persons at a time.
- Visitors should be willing to comply with a request by any healthcare provider to vacate the patient’s room whenever necessary.
- Visitation by children 12 years old or younger is discouraged.
Stroke Warning Signs
Sudden numbness or weakness of face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body. Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
- Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination.
- Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
- Sudden severe headache in one or both eyes.
- Sudden severe headache with no known cause.
Stroke patients can have more positive outcomes by arriving at the hospital within three hours of the onset of any of the warning signs listed above. Gwinnett Health System also offers rehabilitation programs for stroke survivors.
